Baseball's trade deadline is Monday at 6 p.m. ET. After that, no team can trade a player off its major league roster for the rest of the season. So this weekend, thirty front offices are deciding whether their season is worth saving or if it’s time to plan for next year. The WNBA has its own deadline a day earlier on Sunday, and this year we could see a big star on the move.

NFL camps are also rolling, so my Countdown to Kickoff section returns with another reminder of the major moves that have happened in the NFL since the offseason started.

The MLB trade deadline is Monday at 6 p.m. ET, and so far it's been mostly quiet. Contenders in the race trade for players who can help them right now while teams whose seasons are already over will look to sell and plan for next year. Expect a rush of big moves right before the deadline. Here are four storylines to watch:

Tarik Skubal: The biggest question mark heading into the deadline. Skubal has won the Cy Young twice, the award that goes to the league's best pitcher, and he's on an expiring contract.

Detroit was supposed to win their division this year but they currently sit at 51-58, in fourth place. A pitcher of his caliber on a team that's already lost its season is the most expensive thing a front office can hold onto and let walk for nothing.

They’ll want to recoup as much value as they can to stay competitive heading into next season while whoever gets him becomes a World Series contender. The Dodgers, Braves, and Rays have all been named as potential suitors. If Detroit plays .500 or worse this week, I think he's gone.

The Yankees: They've stayed competitive this season despite missing their best player. Aaron Judge fractured a rib and hasn't played since May 31. The injuries keep piling up and most recently star outfielder Cody Bellinger strained a hamstring and is out four to six weeks.

Given the Yankees still hold one of the best records in the league, they'll look to add help to fuel a World Series run while they wait for their stars to get back.

The Mets: They completely overhauled the roster in the offseason, trading away long-tenured veterans to piece together a group of talented newcomers. A team that came into this season as a contender has turned into a disaster.

They’re one of the league's worst teams, and they fired manager Carlos Mendoza after a 34-47 start. With the second-highest payroll in baseball, they can't afford to keep spending this much to be this bad. Look for them to make some big moves at the deadline.

The Dodgers: Favorites to win it all and chasing a third straight title, something no team has pulled off since the Yankees in 2000. With a roster this deep and an ownership group known to spend big, they can afford to take some risks to put themselves in position to win another one. Their pitching rotation has battled injuries all season, and that's where they're most likely to add. Don't be surprised if Skubal ends up in Los Angeles.

Camps are open across the league and the first preseason game is next week. Last week we looked at the quarterback competitions. This week we’ll dive into receivers and backs in new places, because three of the offseason's biggest moves put star weapons in new uniforms.

A.J. Brown to the Patriots: Philadelphia traded him in June, and now he's reunited with Mike Vrabel, the coach who drafted him in Tennessee in 2019. Drake Maye broke out last season without a true No. 1 receiver. Now he has the best weapon he's had in New England, and this passing game should become one of the more fun ones to watch.

Mike Evans to the 49ers: After twelve seasons in Tampa Bay, with 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first eleven, we'll finally see Mike Evans in a new uniform. At 32, the questions are whether he can stay healthy for a full season and how quickly he builds chemistry with Brock Purdy.

Kenneth Walker III to Kansas City: Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker gives the Chiefs a more explosive backfield after one of the league's least explosive rushing attacks last season. It's timely help as Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL in December and is cleared to practice, targeting to start Week 1.

Red Sox vs. Dodgers | Sunday, 7:20 PM (NBC): One of the best stories in baseball this season. Boston was 14 games under .500 on June 22, then won 15 straight to match the franchise record set in 1946, and now sits above .500 and in the playoff race. Now they face the defending champs and the best team in baseball.

Yankees vs. Cubs | Saturday, 7:15 PM (FOX): These two contenders match up three days before the trade deadline. The Yankees have hung around all season without Aaron Judge, but a bad weekend in Chicago makes them a more desperate buyer come Monday.

Fever vs. Lynx | Sunday, 1:00 PM (ABC): Both teams come into this one off big double-digit wins. Minnesota has been the league's best team most of the season and Indiana is rounding into form with Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell both heating up. This is one of the best WNBA matchups this week.

WNBA Trade Deadline | Sunday, 3:00 PM: The WNBA trade deadline is usually pretty quiet, but this year there’s a big star who could be on the move. Kelsey Plum has indicated she’s unlikely to re-sign and return to the Sparks next season after an injury-shortened season. Keep your eyes on Golden State as a potential landing spot. The Valkyries already defend at a high level, and Plum is the pure scorer that could turn them from a current contender to a championship caliber team.
